Why Did We Start To Test What's In Our Air?

From 1900 to 1970, six widespread pollutants increased dramatically in the air we breath. Scientists studying the effects of air pollution on our health and welfare found undeniable evidence that exposure to specific levels of each of these 6 criteria pollutants for a certain amount of time was harmful and should be avoided. We began monitoring air quality to test these pollutant levels.
