Publications

NRInfo Web Portal
The NRInfo web portal is a "one-stop shop" for natural resource publications.

Staff produce several general publications about natural resource programs, accomplishments, and initiatives in the National Park Service:

  • Park Science is a research and resource management bulletin of the National Park Service that reports the implications of recent and ongoing natural and social science and related cultural research for park planning, management, and policy.
  • The Natural Resource Challenge was created in 1999 to improve our knowledge of natural resources across the National Park System. This section includes the annual Report to Congress, which summarizes natural resource accomplishments for the previous year, and the original Action Plan for Preserving Natural Resources.
  • The Natural Resource Year in Review summarized the application of science to resource management in the National Park System. The series was discontinued in 2006, but past issues are available for viewing.

For publications about natural resource issues, select the appropriate topics in the navigation to the left or visit NRInfo. NRInfo is the beginning steps towards having a "one-stop" for data and information on park-related natural resources. From the portal you can search for, view, and download documents, reports, publications, data sets, park species lists, and links to additional data sources.

For NPS staff or cooperators looking for guidance about the national report series, see the Natural Resource Publications Management website.
