Illinois Beach Nature Preserve, located within Illinois Beach State Park, is an area of beach ridges that supports a great diversity of ecosystems, including sand savanna, sand prairie, wetland, and beach communities. The site supports over 60 species of animals and plants that are threatened or endangered in Illinois.
