Barfoot Park provides one of the best U.S. examples of Madrean-influenced ponderosa pine forests. The site supports an unusually high amount of plant diversity and includes one of the largest concentrations of well-developed talus slopes in the region, supporting plant and animal species not found elsewhere at the site.
