Climate change threatens some of the most treasured natural and historic places in our nation. An example in the Prairie Grasslands bioregion from Wind Cave National Park that park managers are concerned about is the potential range shift of the grassland species. As temperatures warm, the boundary between grassland and shrubland or forest will respond. Grasslands replaced with shrubland would force the Bison herd to move out of the park in search of better forage.
