Climate change threatens some of the most treasured natural and historic places in our nation. An example in the Alaska Arctic bioregion that park managers are concerned about is the potential vegetation shift from tundra to shrubland due to warmer temperatures. This vegetation change, combined with the loss in sea ice, may result in a loss of vital habitat for caribou, birds and polar bears.
