Atmospheric Deposition Monitoring
Deposition of atmospheric pollutants is not monitored in Haleakala NP. The closest wet and dry deposition monitors are located in Hawaii Volcanoes NP. Data from these samplers indicate that sulfur deposition is relatively high on Hawaii; southeasterly winds periodically carry volcanic sulfur emissions to Maui, likely resulting in episodes of high sulfur deposition in Haleakala NP.
