Atmospheric Deposition Monitoring
Deposition of pollutants, including sulfur and nitrogen, is not measured in Carlsbad Caverns NP. Estimates of wet deposition for Carlsbad Caverns NP have been monitored since 1984-present (Site # TX22). In addition, wet deposition information is available on NPS Air Atlas website. Dry deposition estimates are not available for the area.

Ozone Monitoring
Estimates of tropospheric (ground-level) ozone concentrations for Carlsbad Caverns NP are available from the National Park Service Air Atlas website.

Ultraviolet Radiation (UV) Monitoring
UV radiation is not monitored in Carlsbad Caverns NP.

Visibility Monitoring
Visibility measurements at nearby Guadalupe Mountains NP are used to characterize visibility in Carlsbad Caverns NP. As part of the Interagency Monitoring of Protected Visual Environments (IMPROVE) network, visual air quality in Guadalupe Mountains NP has been monitored using an aerosol sampler (1988-present), a transmissometer (1988-present), and an automatic 35mm camera (1983-1995). Visual air quality in Guadalupe Mountains NP has been monitored using an aerosol sampler (1988-present), a transmissometer (1988-present), and an automatic 35mm camera (1983-1995).
