This program is designed to provide detailed experimental data for computer modeling of photochemical oxidant formation and transport in the northeastern United States. Two NPS units are involved, Shenandoah National Park and Cape Cod National Sea Shore. The NARSTO-NE program funded enhanced monitoring at Cape Cod NS during the summer of 1995 and 1996. The NPS runs an extensive monitoring station at Big Meadows in Shenandoah NP that was augmented with some NARSTO-NE funding through the University of Maryland.

The following measurements are being made at the two stations: ozone, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, NO, NOy, meteorological parameters, UV radiation, solar radiation, and speciated volatile organic compounds (VOC).
